Schalk Burger is the founder of Thane Capital and a Chartered Accountant with B.Com (Acc.) Hons and M.Com (Accounting) degrees from the University of Johannesburg.
With a career spanning investment banking, corporate finance, and executive leadership up to CFO and CEO level, Schalk has held senior roles with leading South African organisations including Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank, ABSA Corporate and Merchant Bank, New Concept Mining, Bravo Group, and Steeledale. His extensive experience across finance, operations, and strategy provides the foundation for Thane Capital's client-focused approach to trade finance solutions.
Johan van der Berg
Johan van de Berg brings over 30 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry. He has held senior leadership roles at leading South African financial institutions, including ABSA Bank and IBSA, where he played a key role in structuring landmark funding solutions for major projects and corporate clients.
Johan is also the founder of Electronic Financial Settlements (EFS), South Africa's first independent supply chain financing specialist. Under his leadership, EFS became the only independent supply chain operator approved by Investec Bank, facilitating settlements of up to R1 billion per month through its proprietary electronic platform while maintaining an exceptional track record of accuracy and reliability.
